What is seed stratification?? Many native seeds (and some non-native) require a period of time below a certain temperature in order to germinate. By providing this time period, you are stratifying your seeds.
During this class, you will plant your native seeds into milk-jugs to create mini-greenhouses. You will store these jugs outside throughout the winter. In spring, after they germinate and establish roots, you can transplant them to larger pots or directly into the ground. We will also have a discussion regarding the successes and issues with this method.
We will also offer a follow-up class in the spring to up-pot your baby plants and an optional plant exchange with other participants!
Date TBD.
**Please bring TWO semi-translucent gallon jugs, such as a milk, water, or tea jug, to the class.
